アルコールは血液等を通じて全身をめぐり、全身の臓器に影響を与えるため、飲みすぎた場合には、いろいろな臓器に病気が起こる可能性があります。飲酒による影響には個人差があり、例えば年齢、性別、体質等の違いによって、それぞれ受ける影響が異なります。主な身体への影響として、以下のような特有の状態変化や固有のリスクなどが生じる可能性があります。なお、体調など個人のそのときの状態にも左右されます。
年齢の違いによる影響
高齢者は若い時と比べて、体内の水分量の減少等(1)で同じ量のアルコールでも酔いやすくなり、飲酒量が一定量を超えると認知症の発症の可能性が高まります(2)。あわせて、飲酒による転倒・骨折(3,4,5)、筋肉の減少(サルコペニア(※)等(6,7))の危険性が高まります。
※サルコペニアとは、加齢に伴う骨格筋量低下に加え、筋力および/又は身体機能が低下した状態のことです。10歳代はもちろん20歳代の若年者についても、脳の発達(8,9)の途中であり、多量飲酒によって脳の機能が落ちるとのデータがあるほか(10)、健康問題(高血圧等)のリスクが高まる可能性もあります(11)。
